Belt Testing Requirements
In order for 4-7 year old students to belt test they will need to have a minimum of 16 classes and two months of attendance recorded prior to their testing date. This requirement holds for each of their belt ranks leading up to their transition into the 8 years old and above Solid colored belt ranks. During the course of their practice, at each level, they will earn both curriculum and attendance stripes on each side of their current belt. Achieving these stripes are a requirement to be eligible for belt testing.
Attendance & Curriculum Stripes
Students earn a yellow curriculum stripe when they have completed 5 classes. At the end of class students are encouraged to ask an instructor where they stand on their class count and receive an attendance stripe if eligible.
Curriculum stripes are awarded on a revolving basis as per the curriculum set they are currently working on in class. Every few weeks students will work on a new set of curriculum that coincides with a particular colored stripe that represents their knowledge of that piece of the curriculum when earned. Once a student can demonstrate proficiency with their new skill set, the instructor will award the student in class with the coinciding colored stripe. Emails will be sent to all students in the 4-7 year old program at the start of each new curriculum set cycle with an announcement of the stripe color that shall be awarded upon completion.
*If your student happens to miss a stripe due to absence please contact us at (925) 639-4096 via text to let us know your child’s name, which stripe was missed, and we’ll do our best to bring your child up to date on their curriculum requirements.
